As the unifying magnet for the packaging industry in the West, WPA provides governmental representation in California and in the other western states as well as Canadian provinces when issues arise that are a priority to the members of the industry. Laurie Hansen Sheets, our Legislative Affairs Director, provides updates and follows legislation across the U.S. affecting WPA members. Company members are advised of new legislation with the help of our team of bill trackers from Serlin Haley and lobbyists at Houston Magnani. We are currently providing reports on all single-use plastic (SB 54), bags, labeling, packaging, PFAS-related regulations as well as EPR nationwide. WPA actively promotes and communicates the benefits of packaging and the industry to legislators and regulators.
